History
The ASYS Group is a network of companies that has been constantly developing and growing since the company was founded in 1992. The vision of the two founders, Werner Kreibl and Klaus Mang, to standardise handling systems for the electronics industry has become a success story. Today’s product portfolio covers more than 75% of a complete SMT production line and supplements this with intelligent software and logistics solutions.
Today, the ASYS Group is recognised as the leading provider of automation solutions for industrial production in market segments such as: Electronics, Energy and Life Science.
1992 | Foundation of the Company ‘ASYS Automatisierungssysteme GmbH’
With the bold and technologically advanced approach of standardising handling systems for the electronics industry, Werner Kreibl and Klaus Mang found ASYS Automatisierungssysteme GmbH, thereby anticipating a trend. In the first company building in Hauffstraße in Dornstadt, the first handling machines are developed and successfully launched onto the market in an area of 100 square metres by 1996.
1992 – 1999 | Early Years and International Expansion
1994 Awarded the Dr Rudolf Eberle Innovation Prize by the state of Baden-Württemberg
1996 Expansion of the headquarters to 3,000 m²
Due to the rapid growth of ASYS Automatisierungssysteme GmbH, new locations are opened globally:
1998 The first location in the United States is opened with the founding of ASYS Automation LLC, Atlanta, USA
In 1999, the company is expanded on the Asian continent with the founding of ASYS Group Asia, Singapore
2000 – 2009 | Globalisation and Portfolio Expansion
In 2000, a second Asian location is added with the founding of ASYS Group China, Shanghai
2000 The foundation of ASYS Group Budapest, Hungary, creates a further location in Europe
2002 Foundation of ASYS Solar to open up the solar market
2005 Integration of EKRA Automatisierungssysteme GmbH
2008 Expansion of the headquarters in Dornstadt to 18,840 m²
2009 Integration of BOTEST Systems GmbH
2010 – 2019 | Diversification and Strategic Alliances
2011 Integration of ASYS TECTON GmbH to open up the life science sector
2012 Expansion of the headquarters in Dornstadt to 27,000 m²
2014 Introduction of the ASYS Life Science division
2015 Honoured with the Productronica Innovation Award for PULSE Software Solutions
2017 Majority stake in Super Dry Totech to strengthen the Material Logistics division
2018 Integration of motives software GmbH to strengthen software expertise
2020 – Today | Digitalisation and Expansion of Business Areas
2020 Jürgen Ries becomes part of the management as CEO.
2020 Foundation of the ASYS Group Energy division, expansion of solar through fuel cells and batteries
2023 Takeover of MÜKO Maschinenbau GmbH and foundation of ASYS Assembly Solutions GmbH
2024 Foundation of ASYS Automation Switzerland AG
2025 Dr Alexander Näser is appointed to the Management Board as CFO.
